Sterling Edward Jones

Sterling Edward Jones, 80, of Finksburg, MD, passed peacefully January 20, 2018 at his home in Finksburg, MD. Born September 18, 1937 in Finksburg. He was the son of the late Edwin Stewart and Laura Olivia Stocksdale Jones. He was the loving husband of Madeline K. Zimmerman Jones of 57 years.

Sterling was a hard worker and a good provider for his wife and family. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a long term member of the Door to Virtue Lodge #46, AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Westminster, MD. He was a member of the Westminster Moose Family Center 1381 in Westminster, MD and was a family member of Deer Park United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are children Ricky S. Jones and wife Wanda of Hampstead, MD. Kristy K. Jones Thomas and husband David of Orbisonia, PA., son-in-law Jeff Gist and predeceased daughter Tracey T. Gist also of Hampstead, MD. 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and his loyal pet Molly Bear. He was predeceased by his twin brother Edwin Slade Jones and sister Carmen Lorraine Crum. Surviving are brother Thomas Jones of Westminster, MD and sister Sharon Garland of Buladean, NC.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, from 11 am until time of funeral service at 12 noon at Deer Park United Methodist Church, 2205 Sykesville Road, Westminster, MD 21157 (Smallwood), at the corner of Rt. 32 and Deer Park Rd. Interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, Maryland.
