Stewart Eugene Graf, 88, of Hampstead, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Longview, with his family by his side. Born August 22, 1934, to the late Herman B. Graf and Anna R. (Weis) Graf. He was the husband of the late Carolyn Sue (Sawyers) Graf who died November 1990.
Surviving are his two sons, Jeffrey S. Graf and wife Jan (Johnson) Graf, and David W. Graf and wife Dawn (Hoff) Graf both of Hampstead. Also, four grandchildren, Heather Schaefer, Daniel Graf (Stacey), Carolyn (Graf) Whetsell (Ben), Kyle Graf (Cortney) and six great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Cole, and Breiah Graf, and Cade, Haydn, and Leah Schaefer.
He served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. Upon discharge he returned to Hampstead and worked for the John Deere Company for 30 years, retiring on June 1, 1986. He repaired fuel injector pumps for many years. He farmed the family farm where he had beef cows with his family and his John Deere tractors. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and served on many committees.
He was predeceased by his brother and sister, Elwood Graf and Ruth Brown.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, and Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 9 to 10 am, with a funeral service starting at 10:00 am, at ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. 21102. Interment will follow at New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to the Maryland Steam Historical Society, P.O. Box 91, Upperco, MD. 21155.
