Sylvia Kathleen Harris, 81, of Hampstead died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at home.
Born Aug. 25, 1926, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late William H. Shaffer Sr. and Dorothy Grace Hann Shaffer. She was the wife of George Billy "Bill" Harris, her husband of 57 years, who died March 15, 2001.
She was a graduate of Hampstead High School, class of 1944. She was a former member of the Hampstead Lioness Club and a past president of the Hampstead volunteer fire company ladies auxiliary.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, much of which was donated to local community organizations, as well as cooking and spending time with her family.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Dottie M. and Wally Rossow of Navarre, Fla., Lu Ann Funk of Hampstead, and Vicky E. and Robert Shaffer of Hampstead; grandchildren and step-grandchildren Rich, Kelly, Jen, Nick, Todd, Michelle, Nicole and K.C.; great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren Tommy, Ashley, Kaylee, T.J., Logan, Nick, and Julia; and brothers and sisters-in-law William H. Shaffer Jr. and Alice Shaffer of Hampstead, Earl F. Shaffer of Westminster, and Robert L. and Joan Shaffer of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Jeffrey Odom, and interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster.
