Teresa J. Méndez

Teresa J. Méndez, 82, of Reisterstown, MD, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Seasons Hospice at Sinai in Baltimore, MD. Born on October 4, 1937 in Guatemala, she was the daughter of the late Erasmo and Cecilia Ruano Beltetón. She was the loving wife of 58 years to José E. Méndez.

Teresa immigrated to the United States in 1972, and officially became a United States citizen in 1995. Traveling was one of her and her husband's favorite pastimes. She was incredibly influential in the Hispanic Community of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Glyndon as well as with the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Her life was dedicated to being a humanitarian, and she received several honors, awards, and recognitions from the Baltimore County Executive Office, the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and the Baltimore County Maryland Minority Advisory Council. Teresa always had a deep devotion to her community and was well loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving her in addition to her husband are siblings: Gilberto Beltetón Ruano, Marta Noguera Beltetón, Manuel J. Beltetón, Maria "Chiqui" Sagastume Beltetón, countless nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, who all looked up to her as their grandmother. She is also survived by extended family.

Teresa was predeceased by four siblings.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 63 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, MD 21071. Face masks and social distancing will be required.

Interment is private.
