Therese "Terry" Rigo Alexander, aged 79 ½ , of Manchester, MD, formerly of Harpers Ferry, WV, passed away on April 18, 2024, surrounded by family and friends at Bridging Life/Dove House in Westminster, Md. Born on July 30, 1944, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Charles Rigo and Helen Rigo Muller. She was the beloved wife of Donald Kent Alexander, who passed away in 2012.
Joy…this was Terry's favorite word, and it was apparent throughout her life that she not only brought joy to others, but she faced every trial and challenge with a joyful heart and strong faith. What brought her joy? Most of all, her love for her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Terry found joy through her many summers spent on Long Island, Maine, scanning the beach for beautiful and unusual shells and sea glass. Her children and grandchildren would bring her shells from many other beaches visited around the world. Additionally, she traveled every summer to her husband's childhood home in Champaign, Illinois and found joy in bike riding and cooking large family meals.
Music, gardening and book clubs were among the other joys of her life. She was a member of an interfaith choir in Howard County, Md. She also loved to play the autoharp. She and Dad had a yearly membership to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Lastly, Terry's faith and strong prayer life brought joy to her and her family. If you need prayer, give the request to her! She was a strong prayer warrior! In her final days, she would often say, "I know who I am. I know whose I am, and I know where I'm going."
Surviving her are children: Jeff and Cammie Alexander of Hampstead, MD; Karen and Bill Burton of Woburn, Massachusetts; and Marci and Don Ehrhart of Manchester, MD. Terry was blessed with grandchildren: Jeremiah, Joshua, Alexis, Luke, Hannah, Angela, Meredith, Michael, Mitchell, Madeleine, and Marcus; and 6 great-grandchildren.
