Victor John Shimkus Jr., 54, of Owings Mills died unexpectedly Monday, June 9, 2008, from natural causes.
Born July 14, 1953, in Baltimore, he was the son of Dolores Ileen Fabrick Shimkus and the late Victor John Shimkus Sr.
He was a construction and maintenance man at Worthington Valley Swim Club. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glyndon.
He enjoyed surf fishing, particularly at the Delaware shore where he kept his boat. He especially enjoyed spending time with his cat "Thomas," whom he rescued from a dumpster.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are siblings John A. Shimkus, Mary and William D. Shimkus and Patricia Cecil; a nephew, Jonathan; and numerous friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, with the Rev. Silvester Kim officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
