On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Violet Marie (Whited) Street joined her husband, Rev. John Wesley Street, the love of her life in Heaven. John predeceased Violet on July 24, 2016, after 22 years of marriage.

Violet was born on May 1, 1939, in a log cabin on Old New Windsor Road in Westminster, MD.  She was the daughter of the late Newton and Gladys Irene (Shaffer) Whited.  She graduated from Westminster High School in 1957.  She then attended Eastern Nazarene College in Wollaston, Massachusetts.

She started to work for the Department of the Navy's Bureau of Ships in Washington, D.C. on February 1, 1960, as a clerk stenographer.  She retired on May 1, 1992, as Director, Incentive Awards Office, from the then Naval Sea Systems Command after 32+ years of federal service.

Following her retirement, she married Rev. John W. Street on May 2, 1994, and moved to Hampstead, MD.  They had a wonderful life together being very active in church and traveling throughout the U.S. and Greece.  She lost her best friend of 55 years, Irene Andreadis, in April 2015.

She is survived by stepdaughter: Connie J. Cole and husband Eugene of Upperco, MD, 2 step-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece: Melissa A. Plank and husband Jason of Hanover, PA, and their two sons, Gage and Landon, and nephews: Christopher L. Whited and wife Amy, and their sons, Gabriel and Griffin of Hanover, PA, Philip W. Whited and wife Amy of Parker, CO, and Charles Shaffer of Westminster, MD.

Violet was predeceased by her stepchildren: Terry L. Miller and David W. Street, brother: Wayne N. Whited from Gate City, VA.

She especially loved children, animals, and activities with family and friends.  She was also blessed with a wonderful husband and together they enjoyed traveling.  She looked forward to joining John and Jesus in Heaven.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, April 18, from 10 am – 12 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm.

Interment to follow in Greenmount United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hampstead, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Violet's name may be offered to the Hampstead Baptist Church, 328 Hanover Pike, Hampstead, MD 21074.
