VITA BREVIS - Life is short. Virginia Escobar Faustino died suddenly on February 1, 2022 at 3am with her loving husband of 58 years holding her hand surrounded by two of her daughters, Sherry Dillon and Sharleen Hill. She died peacefully at the Dove House, Westminster, MD as a result of massive cerebral hemorrhage.
Virginia Escobar Faustino was born on December 20, 1940 at Calbayog, Samar, Philippines during the Second World War. She was the daughter of Roy and Esperanza Escobar. She had 2 brothers and 6 sisters. After the war her family settled in Tacloban City, Leyte Philippines where she grew up. She finished high school and obtained a bachelor's degree in home economics at St Paul's College, Tacloban City, Leyte Philippines. She emigrated to the United States in June 1963 and got married to Deogracias V. Faustino, MD that same month in Perth Amboy, NJ. From there the couple moved to Warren, Ohio and she gave birth to her daughter, Sheila. The following year they moved to Trenton, NJ and gave birth to another daughter, Sherry.
In June 1966 the family moved to Harlan, KY because her husband was doing his residency in Pulmonary Medicine there. Virginia discovered living in the mountains was not for her and eventually the family moved to Maryland where her husband had a residency position in Internal residency in Ft. Howard, MD.
Again the family moved to Baltimore City for one year then moved to Randallstown, MD where she gave birth to her third daughter. The family moved to Carroll County where her husband established his medical practice in Hampstead, MD. During this time she became the first president for the Women's Auxiliary of the Association of Philippine Physicians in Maryland. She also became an officer of the Association of Philippine Physicians in America. Because of her positions, she entertained a lot at her home in Westminster, MD where her cooking skills became well known to friends and family. As well as making a home and raising three daughters, Virgie also helped her husband run his medical practice by doing all of the accounting and administrative work. She and Doc had a love for dancing and tangoed their way all over the United States, Caribbean Islands, Canada and Mexico and Europe with friends and family. She led a blessed and full life and will be greatly missed.
Surviving is her husband, Dr. Deogracias Faustino and her three daughters, Sheila Ramirez, Sherry Dillon, Sharleen Hill and grandchildren Matthew Romualdez, Andrew Romualdez, Alexis Meneses, and Connor Braden Hill and finally great daughter, Jasmine Yang Romualdez. Virgie has been a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Westminster, MD for many years.
Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, will have the viewing on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm, Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD, 11-12 pm viewing and 12 pm Requiem Mass will be held in her honor.
