Virginia Mae Freeland, 92 years old of Pikesville, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at the Golden Living Nursing Home in Westminster.
Born January 30, 1916 in Hereminie, PA. she was the daughter of the late Jesse V. Shotts and Hattie Blanche Overly Shotts.
She was the wife of the late Wilmer J. Freeland, Sr.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Freeland at one time worked for Black and Decker, Lyons Brothers and as a cafeteria worker. She was a former member of Stone Chapel Church United Methodist Church and the Owings Mills Golden Age Club. She was a volunteer at the Wesley Home as well as Chairwoman of Social Services Committee and on the Board.
Mrs. Freeland is survived by her children: Wilmer J. Freeland, Jr. of Manchester, Patricia Ann Wertz of Pikesville, Charles T. Freeland of Sykesville, Paul C. Freeland of Manchester and Kenneth W. Freeland of Baltimore. She was pre-deceased by a son, Robert L. Freeland.
Sister of Viva F. Farlow of Westminster. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 8:00 PM at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills. Rev. David Dent officiating.
Interment Private.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
