W. Basil Wisner, 93, of Millers died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
Born March 23, 1914, in Beckleysville, he was the son of the late William M. and Mary Ruth Gardner Wisner. He was the husband of Gladys Haines Wisner, who passed away in 1994.
He was a retired Carroll County School bus contractor and a farmer. He was a 1930 graduate of Hampstead High School.
He was a 60 year member of Lebanon Lodge No. 175 and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester.
He enjoyed his tractor and farming.
Surviving are son and daughters-in-law John Basil Sr. and Elizabeth J. Wisner of Delaware and Shelby Wisner; grandchildren Melissa Ellen Spittel, John B. Wisner Jr., Shanda Llewellyn and David Wisner; great-grandchildren Kasey, Cameron, Taylor and Katie; and a sister, Edna Lawson of Hampstead.
He was predeceased by a son, Nelson Joseph Wisner; and sisters Ruth Shaffer and Ethel Fowble.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with the Revs. Matthew and Norma Schenning, of Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m.
