Walter Alvie Keeney

Walter Alvie Keeney, 87, of Manchester, MD, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Wellspan York Hospital in York, PA. Born on August 30, 1936, in Cedarhurst, MD, he was the son of the late Stewart Alford Keeney and Ethel Lorraine Matthews Martin. He was the beloved husband of Betty Marie Cool Keeney.

Years ago, he enjoyed traveling with family all over the world. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family, and talking to friends. Walter owned and operated an excavating company.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are children: David Keeney of New York State, and Brenda Marie Barrett of Manchester, MD, grandchildren: Justin, Matthew, Jessica, Michelle, and Stewart, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and siblings: Ralph Keeney of Westminster, MD, Stewart Keeney of Princess Anne, MD, Barbara Medairy of Millers, MD, Mary Ellison of Florida, and Sandra Frantz of Westminster, MD.

He was predeceased by a son: Stewart Leroy Keeney, grandchildren: Timothy, Mickey, and Jennifer, great-grandchild: Anna Marie, and a brother: Kenneth Keeney.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, May 21, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 10 am.

Interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD.
