Walter Edward Ward, 89 years old of Baltimore, died Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Seasons Hospice at the Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown.
Born October 1, 1923 in Fairmount, MD. he was the son of the late Clarence W. and Georgia Ford Ward.
He was the husband of the late Mildred Molly Shultz Ward, who passed away in October of 2012.
He served honorably in WWII with the U.S.Army. He joined the Baltimore City Fire Department on November 19, 1952 and retired in 1984 as an active member. He then served as a Retiree Representative with the Baltimore City Fire Department Union, completing 50 years of service to the Department. In addition to the F.D., he spent many years as a home improvement contractor. Prior to his BCFD career, he was an over the road trucker for Food Fair and Teal Moving Company. He enjoyed collecting coins and first day of issue stamps.
He is survived by his children: Linda Jean Albert, Sharon Ward, Wayne Ward, Peter Ward, Bruce Ward, Brothers: Clarence O. Ward, Linwood F. Ward, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by 1 grandson and 2 brothers: Eugene and Louis Ward.
Friends may call on Wednesday and Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills, where services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM.
Interment in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
