Warren Richard Westervelt, age 69 of Manchester, MD died suddenly Wednesday Sept. 16, 2015 in Hampstead, MD.

Born July 30, 1946 in Nassau County, New York, he was the son of the late Charles Richard and Eileen Ostrander Westervelt. He was the husband of Darlene Buecker Westervelt his wife of 17 years.

Warren worked for Walmart in Hampstead as a manager in the Sporting Goods Dept. he was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester, MD.

Warren was a special person as anyone who came in contact with him can attest. He was a brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and above all friend. Warren designed wine labels for a local winery, sketched portraits, did beautiful leatherwork and wood-carvings.

He was a diehard Oriole, Raven and University of Maryland sports fan. Warren was a Scouter's Scouter. His love of outdoors, training and helping youth fueled his lifelong love of the Boy Scouts of America program. Warren served as a Cub Master in the 1970s, continuing to serve in many roles such as Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner, Training Committees for youth and adults, Unit Committee Member, University of Scouting Professor and most recently as Associate Advisor of Venture Crew 2013 in the Baltimore Area Council. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Warren was a special person and the world is a better place because of the things he touched while here on earth.

Surviving in addition to his wife are, stepsons, Nicholas Carr and wife Kristina of Perry Hall, MD and Ben Carr of Utah, sons, Noah Westervelt of Timonium, MD and Joshua Westervelt of Baltimore, MD, siblings, Cindy Harris of Augusta FL, Rus Westervelt of Towson, MD, Steve Westervelt of Glen Arm, MD and Jim Westervelt of Glen Rock, PA and step- grandchildren, Ethan, Alaina and Jaclyn Carr.

Funeral services will be held at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD on Wednesday Sept. 23, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. at the funeral chapel.
