Wayne Douglas Shaffer

Wayne Douglas Shaffer, 78, of Hampstead, MD, was reunited with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Martinsburg VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. Born on October 2, 1947, in Hampstead, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas Emory Shaffer and Sarah Elmire (Allgire) Shaffer. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Nancy Louise (McComas) Shaffer.

Wayne was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Years ago, he was a salesman for eggs and produce. He was a man of true faith and was honored to share the word of God with others. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Westminster.

Surviving him in addition to his wife is his son: Earl Woodrow Shaffer and wife Kim, and grandchildren: Joshua Caleb Shaffer and Amber, all of Alabama. He is also survived by his siblings: Chester A. Shaffer of Manchester, MD, Patricia R. Bitondo of Washington D.C., Betty Jane Nichols of Hanover, PA, Debra A. Robertson of Westminster, MD, Edith M. Calhoun of Upperco, MD, and Reginia G. Phillips of Hampstead, MD.

Wayne was predeceased by his siblings: Herbert Emory Shaffer, Mary R. Buchman, and Frances E. Mahanna.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, July 27, from 10-11 am, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am.

Interment to follow in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hampstead, MD.
