Webster Edward Shipley, Jr. 90 years old of Glyndon, formally of Owings Mills, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Dove House Hospice Center in Westminster.
Born July 28, 1920 in Owings Mills, he was the son of the late Webster Edward Shipley, Sr. and Lillian Catherine King Shipley.
He was the husband of the late Marie G. Shipley who died in 2008.
He served honorably with the U.S.Navy Armed Guard aboard Merchant Marine ships during WWII. He was a machinist in the manufacturing industry, a former commander and life member with Reisterstown American Legion Post 116 and a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He was a train enthusiast, an avid camper and had unparalleled knowledge of world geography.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Donna Shipley Weih and her husband George of Glyndon; his son and daughter-in-law Webster Edward Shipley III and his wife Maritza; grandchildren Bart E. Weih, Carrie Marie Weih McCarter, Joseph W. Shipley, William E. Shipley and 3 great grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Loy Shipley of Eldersburg and sister Nancy Fishpaw of Towson.
He was predeceased by his siblings Kenneth Bowen and Walter Shipley.
