William Wesley Cole, 88, of Upperco died Monday, October 21, 2013 at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born July 20, 1925 in Mt. Washington, he was the son of the late Amos Wesley Cole and Nina Clifta Howard Cole.
He was the husband of Ruth Virginia Tawney Cole, his wife of 50 years.
He was a self employed tile contractor. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a life member of the American Legion, Post # 116 and was past District Commander, where he served on the Department Executor Committee for 30 years. He served on the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery Committee for many years.
Surviving in addition to his wife is his son Dennis William Cole of Upperco; his granddaughter Bethany Lynn Cole of Minnesota; and his siblings Betty A. Cooper and Dorothy Ruth Cook both of Abington.
He was predeceased by his siblings Charles Clifton Cole, Cornelius Cole, Robert Kemp Cole, and Laura Bauerlein.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday.
Interment will be at a later date at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills.
