William W. Slemmer, Sr., 94, of Annapolis died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at his residence.
Born April 8, 1919 Altoona, Pa, he was the son of the late William Daniel Slemmer and Anna Feiereisen Slemmer. He was the husband of Betty Joy Ross Slemmer, who died in 1997.
He was a retired veteran of the United States Army, who served in WWII, Korea, and NATO. He retired with rank of Major. While in the Army, he received a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, and a Certificate of Merit.
In addition, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Baltimore City Water Department where he was the Chief of Customer Service. He attended Penn State University and the University of Maryland.
Surviving are his children William W. Slemmer, Jr. of CO, Joseph D. Slemmer of Hagerstown, Nancy Slemmer, and Lynn Mullineaux both of Annapolis; his 6 grandchildren; his 2 great grandchildren; and he was the last of 10 siblings.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Manchester Baptist Church, 2933 Manchester Baptist Church Road, Manchester.
Interment will be in Manchester Baptist Church Cemetery.
