William Gordon Tilghman born March 12, 1931 passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at 92 surrounded by family in his home in Hampstead, Maryland.
Survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Jacklyn Catherine Murray and his four children: Deborah Ann Hearn and husband Daniel, William Henry Tilghman and wife Pamalee, Christopher Allen Tilghman and wife Sally and Ann Marie Pope and husband Earle.
Also survived by 12 grandchildren: Joshua Tilghman, Daniel Hearn, Ann Baxter, Andrew Tilghman, Nathanael Tilghman, Stephen Hearn, William Tilghman, Kara Lahr, Matthew Hearn, Jonathan Tilghman, Michael Crowley, Gabriel Crowley and 41 great grandchildren.
Bill was a 70-year member of the United Association of Steamfitters Local 486. He was an active member of Manchester Baptist, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Bill had a passion for life, his family and Jesus. He spent his free time cutting firewood, working in his garden, carving waterfowl and played countless rounds of golf. Bill made many friends along the way, was a wonderful storyteller and his memory remained sharp throughout his nearly 93 years. He is free from his suffering and his family rejoices that we will be reunited in Heaven.
Celebration of Life will be held at Manchester Baptist Church 2933 Manchester Baptist Road, Manchester, MD on Saturday April 6, 2024. Family will receive visitors at 10 am with Memorial Service at 11 am. Please join us for lunch following in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Dove House in Westminster Maryland.
