Zaidan Stephen Asid, 51, of Hampstead, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at home.
Born Aug. 31, 1958, in Waco, Texas, he was the son of Lt. Col. Philip George Asid and Shirley Jenkins Asid, both of Ellicott City. He was the fiancé of Hallie P. Swift.
He was a software engineer for Credit Management Solutions in Columbia and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and neighbors, most of all with his son Noah. He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially to Mexico, and recently started taking up spontaneous trips to new cities.
He loved classic rock and going to local concerts. A fan of air and space, he enjoyed attending air shows and watching NASA broadcasts. He also loved dogs and owned them most of his life.
Surviving, in addition to his parents and fiancé, are a sister, Bethany Asid; a nephew, Ryan Oechsler; and a former spouse, Kathi Asid.
He was predeceased by a son, Noah Francis Asid; and a sister, Teresa Asid-Oechsler.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester with Rev. Fr. Michael Roach officiating.
Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery.
